Our guide took us to meet some of the locals. Here is a typical kitchen in the village
Monday we walked the few miles from Sapa to the Cat Cat village. The people that lived in this village mainly were rice farmers. The harvest was just finishing up and the village was just moving into the months of "down time". How nice would that be! We ran into these kids playing a game and decided to share our marbles with them. Bary had read that marbles were a good thing to bring for some of the local kids. I love the expressions on their faces! Bary asked our guide if it was ok to give them to the smallest boy (he seemed pretty young) and he looked at us like we were crazy. Apparently kids there don't do silly things like they do here with small objects?
At the bottom of the village (keep in mind: terraced rice patties) was this amazing waterfall. They use the water flow to crack the hulls of the rice.
This one was about half way down to the village. It was foggy most of the day but the clouds broke up for a bit and Bary got this shot.
Stay tuned for part 3...
