A day at the beach

Not much I can think of that is more relaxing than spending a day at the beach. We drove down to Virginia Beach yesterday and spent the day there with some friends. Couldn't have asked for a better day. It was between 85-90 with an amazing breeze that kept things from getting too hot. Water was warm (by CA beach standards) and the kids had a great time playing and building sand creations. We found a blue shelled crab with a Nemo like fin and swam him to deeper water-he got caught in the low tide. The kids collected a million shells and were bummed when we limited them to bringing home only 7. When we hit an afternoon lull, I told the kids how when I was a teenager, on a particular beach trip, we built a sand couch. They thought that was a great idea, and so we set out to make one. As we were packing up, we found other beach goers enjoying our sand couch.

Getting ready to go. Annette ran in the store to get ice-Bary documented the trip

Katelyn's friend Bethany came with us.... here they are on the infamous sand couch!

After we got home, Bary worked with Josh on lawn mowing. I PROMISE it wasn't dark. It was still daylight. All the pics I took where the picture turned out light like it in fact was, were blurry. Weird! He was thrilled to be able to start learning and I think Bary is too... we have A LOT of lawn! :)
